originated at Happy Mountain® Miniature Cattle Farm. All breeds are based on linebreeding programs developed by the British with only approved foundation bulls. Examples include linebreeding 2 breed crosses, 2 breed triple crosses, 3 breed triple crosses, 4 breed triple crosses and 5 breed triple crosses programs.

Belted Milking DexterTM: The Dexter breed has long been highly regarded as a great breed of cattle. Dexters come long legged or short legged and are either red, dun or black. Dexters have been used as a foundation breed in various crossbreeding programs with some notable successes. The Dexter/Zebu, Dexter/Highland, Dexter/Wagu, Dexter/Hereford, Dexter/Angus and many others are examples. The breeding programs that have been successful have been those based on linebreeding which requires the selection of a particular single bull as a foundation bull. The Belted Milking DexterTM program is a linebreeding program with a bull by the name of Jackson as the foundation bull. Jackson is 81.25% Jersey and 18.75% Buelingo. Jackson has a full white belt from the Buelingo influence. The Buelingo breed is based on a 50/50 cross between the Angus and the Belted Galloway. This makes the Belted Milking DexterTM a four breed composite animal with maximum heterosis, combining Jersey, Angus, Belted Galloway and Dexter. When Jackson is bred to selected approved Dexter females the resulting influence is 50% Dexter, 40.65% Jersey, 4.69% Angus and 4.69% Belted Galloway. This creates an animal with great milking ability, superior feed conversion, excellent beef characteristics and the appeal of a white belt. Belted breeds are always in high demand.
Belted Milking DexterTM BMDTM CATTLE - A NEW BREED By Professor Richard Gradwohl The wide white belt from Jackson comes through genetically in 50% of the breedings. Breeding a belted animal to a non belted animal results in this 50% chance. How the belt comes through is also a matter of chance. It could be narrow or wide or partial or complete. All progeny will be half brother and half sister. These half brothers and half sisters are then bred together maintaining the 50% influence of Jackson, thus the linebreeding effect. In those cases where both bull and heifer have a belt the chance of the belt coming through is increased to 75% of the time. We are viewing the Belted Milking DexterTM breed as one of the most significant improvements in the Dexter breed in the last 100 years. A composite breed with the influence of four highly desirable breeds including a white belt is a major accomplishment. BMDTM Cattle are a highly desirable sought after breed popular as a beef animal, a mini milker and as a wonderful pet with the added charm of a white belt. The Panda® Miniature Cattle Breeding Program The Panda ® Miniature Cattle breeding program is a closed breeding program. It is a linebreeding program starting with one very special approved bull. No other animals are allowed without genetics from this approved foundation bull. In addition, all females must also be approved and all breedings must be approved by the registry. The name Panda ® cattle has been trademarked in the US, Canada, Mexico and most developed countries. Because of these special breeding requirements and trademarking, Panda ® Miniature Cattle will remain a very sought after popular unique pet bovine highly prized by their owners. The International Miniature Cattle Breeders Society and Registry issues certificates of registration pedigrees on all approved Panda ® Cattle. Registry control over breeding, female approval, and linebreeding requirements is unique in the cattle industry and insures purity of these adorable animals. PANDA® TRADEMARK INFRINGEMENT Registered Panda® Miniature Cattle were developed at Happy Mountain® Miniature Cattle Farm and are the original and only recognized trademarked Panda® Cattle. Any other cattle being marketed under the same or similar names are nothing more than illegal fakes. Do not be misled by unscrupulous dishonest breeders selling unregistered questionable animals attempting to take advantage of the popularity of our Panda® Miniature Cattle product name. Authentic Panda® Cattle are trademarked and registered with the International Miniature Cattle Breeds Registry. These are the only Panda® Miniature Cattle. Any other cattle claiming to be Panda® or similar to Panda® Cattle or stating "Otherwise known as Panda® Miniature Cattle" are not registered or recognized by the International Miniature Cattle Breeds Registry.
